Letter from Betsy Lueth - Director of Yinghua Academy

Welcome to Yinghua Academy! We appreciate your interest in our school.

Yinghua Academy is really an extraordinary school. Our students are happy, engaged, learning a lot in all academic areas, and learning how to read, write, and speak Mandarin Chinese. We provide a strong academic program, based on the Core Knowledge Sequence, so our students are learning about history, social studies, science, and fine arts. We also use Singapore Math, which is a great curriculum for helping students really to understand math. As I have shared with many people, in my years as a teacher I have never heard so many students say that math is their favorite subject! We provide physical education class in Chinese several times a week as well as a number of arts-enrichment programs through our partnerships with arts organizations throughout the Twin Cities.

We start each day with a morning meeting. All students participate in the morning meeting, which may include exercise, singing, and reading stories in Chinese and English. This is an excellent way to help the students make the transition to the school day and settle down for a challenging day of school.
