Background of the Director of Yinghua Academy, Betsy Lueth
Betsy began her career in international banking at American Bank in 1991. In 1993 she helped to establish a small company, I.M.R. Inc., which focused on international manufacturing with a primary focus in plastic molding and sewn items. During this experience she traveled and worked frequently with companies in both Mexico and China. As a Senior Project Manager, her duties included preparing project budgets, production time lines, quality control and materials procurement. In 1999 she began graduate coursework at the University of St. Thomas in Elementary Education and became a licensed teacher in 2001. She began teaching first in St. Paul Public Schools as both a sixth grade teacher at Groveland Elementary and later as an ESL Science teacher at an alternative high school for recent immigrants, L.E.A.P. In 2003 she began teaching fifth grade at Academia Cesar Chavez charter school. She also had lead roles on the Special Education pre-referral team, the Curriculum committee, and the Long-Term Strategic Planning committee. Betsy Lueth graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in International Relations in 1990. Betsy and her husband Brian have a daughter who was adopted from China and who is a student at Yinghua Academy.
